A Hungarian bicycle company is revolutionizing the way we ride bikes.  Stringbike is a bike that uses super durable plastic string instead of cumbersome metal chains to take you where you want to be.

The strings, made out of the wonder plastic Dyneema, move in a back and forth motion to pedal the bike.  To ride, simply pedal the bike the same way you would with gears and chains.  It’s that easy.

The truly great thing about using the plastic strings made from Dyneema is that they are incredibly durable, water resistant, and unbelievably lightweight, making this perfect for the everyday biker or the weekend warrior.  Bikes are suppose to be easy to haul, and it doesn’t get any easier than this.

Dyneema plastic is used for many different things, from ropes and fibers, to military helmets and police vests!  Now that’s gotta be a strong plastic!!

Another wonderful thing about this wonderful plastic is that it is environmentally friendly and easy to recycle, limiting our carbon footprint.  Isn’t that a perk of riding bikes in the first place?

These bikes get a bunch of cool points for being featured in the blockbuster hit Blade Runner 2049 starring Harrison Ford and Matt Damon.

Dyneema is most certainly changing the way we think about riding bikes, and the way we use plastics
