Evonik is making it rain purple in 2018.
The German based company has come up with a new amorphous nylon resin called Trogamid T5000, which has a transparency of 90 percent. The resin can be dyed in a number of colors, including American Pantone Color Institute’s color of the year, Ultra Violet.
“We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is the kind of creative inspiration is indigenous to Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet. From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way for what is yet to come.” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
Creative inspiration is exactly what this new resin is providing for the MIDO Eyewear Show in February in Milan, Italy. This resin is perfect for providing lightweight frames without affecting the material performance.
Trogamid T5000 is much more resilient than frames made from metal or heavier materials, which allows designers to really get creative in the style of their frames.
“While consumers tended to focus on aesthetics in the past, they now place greater emphasis on product quality and performance,” officials said.
Evonik has teamed up with Chinese eyewear manufacturer Hwa Mao Optical Co., Ltd. to make designer eyewear out of the wonder resin Trogamid T5000.
